Spent some time making portraits of Mariak Chuor, one of the Lost Boys of Sudan, who now lives in Garner. He fled Sudan in 2000 and has lived around the East Coast before settling in North Carolina a few years ago. He is now working on finding a publisher for his book about the experience.
Always a pleasure to spend time with someone who has fought through massive adversity to get where they are and managed to maintain a positive outlook on life and remain hopeful for the future. I cannot imagine going through the things Mariak has seen and coming out so upbeat. Thanks Mariak for the time and the lesson.
