Miss Isaacson was in ROTC at UNC-CH until she told her commanding officer that she was gay. She immediately lost her scholarship, which the Army paid for and she may have to repay the $80,000 already spent. This all fell under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy of the US military.
She said it was a matter of integrity that she told the officer, and she still stands by that, but the Army felt otherwise.
Her case is under appeal.
