Lets stop for a minute and think about those people we have known for years, in this case almost 20, and be thankful for that. It is a rare gift, and I am unfairly blessed, to have friends for 20 plus years. I still hang out on a regular basis with many of the people I grew up with, screwed up with and got hurt with. We were kids together and have been able to become adults together.
In this case, I have known Nick since he was 11 I think. We used to pick him up to go skate, take hm to parties, he was our little brother. We bestowed upon him all the half baked wisdom of older and barely wiser 15 years olds. Luckily he ignored most of it and has gone on to great things, like opening his own restaurant.
So be thankful for what you have this week, and go see Nick, and his sister, and support them in this new endeavor. This is as local as it gets.
